Hello!
Just wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to store photos (some very old, some old, some relatively new- non-digital) after I scan them. For example, in cardboard boxes? in plastic? Are their any 'storage systems' on the market? I would like to pack them away for long time storage.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi Sherri!
Some simple, inexpensive ways to store your photos are in Ziploc bags, but you may want to consider place some acid-free paper on top. If the photos are in a humid environment they may stick to the plastic. That being said, you shouldn't store photos in a basement, attic or garage because these areas become very humid. After you have your photos organized in the bags, you can store them in simple photo storage boxes. If you want something more sturdy, there are metal storage boxes out there, definitely more expensive. Just always make sure the boxes you are using are pvc free or acid free. This will all help keep your photos clean, dry and safe!

I store mine in archival quality photo storage boxes - that can be purchased at most hobby/craft stores as well as box stores, etc. You can also do some photo albums, but please don't use the 'magnetic' pages as they are not archival.

Amen to that. When I want to grab a photo from my old photo albums, I am lucky if I can free it from it's prison. All my photos are being held captive by my photo albums. If only I knew...please don't use the 'magnetic' pages as they are not archival

Janice,
way back when (before I converted to Digital scrapbooking), someone recommended using dental floss (waxed) to loosen those pictures in the magnetic albums. You might try it.
