The Most Fabulous 4-Letter F-Word
The Most Fabulous 4-Letter F-Word

Did your mind already try to guess the most fabulous four-letter F-word?
The word is FIND, and here’s how to use it:
- Open a webpage. I’ll open the Downloads page of Grace W. She has hundreds of downloads, and they are in the order in which she purchased them.
Let’s say Grace was trying to find a tutorial she downloaded. She couldn’t remember the name, but she knew it had something to do with the Halftone filter.
- Press Ctrl F (Mac: Cmd F) to open the browser’s Find function.
- Type a keyword. I typed “halftone”. I didn’t even have to press Enter/Return.
- Find found three matches. Use the Find arrows to cycle through the options.
- Press Esc or Done to back out of the Find function, or type another keyword to search again.

The Find function works with any computer, webpage, or document, including PDFs. It also works in Photoshop, but it’s used differently.
In Adobe Photoshop,
- Find (Ctrl or Cmd F) will search the application, not your document. So, if you search for “halftone”, it will show you all the places within the application where you will find halftone used.

As of this writing, there is no Find function in Photoshop Elements. Instead, you would use the Search function in the Help menu. It works the same as Photoshop by searching your application.

So next time you are trying to find something on your computer, try FIND!
