Digital Scrapper Quick Tip, Move Tool

Centering Within a Selection by Jenifer Juris

When you combine the power of a selection with the Move tool, you can get perfect placement
every time.

  • On the document, create a selection around the area you wish to center something.
  • Get the Move tool.
  • In the Layers panel, make sure the item you wish to center within the selection is the active layer.
  • In the Tool Options, click on the Align Horizontal Centers (Middle) icon and the Align Vertical
    Centers icon.

This tip is for both Photoshop Elements and Adobe Photoshop.

Thanks Jenifer. I remembered how to center two layers, but forgot that you can center by creating a shape with the marquee tool. This was super helpful.

Wow, how did I not know this after using Photoshop for over 30 years? It’s so simple but a time-saver!
