Keep the colors of a pretty template from influencing your design decisions by desaturating the layers.

Problem: Pretty colors in templates can inspire you, but they can also keep you from seeing the full potential of using the template with the photos in your stash.

Solution: Desaturate the colors in the template to start with a neutral palette.

This tip is for both Photoshop Elements and Adobe Photoshop.
