Meet December’s Guest Designer: Kristin Cronin-Barrow

December Guest Designer at Digital Scrapper: Kristin Cronin-Barrow | Digitalscrapper.com

We’re so excited to have Kristin Cronin-Barrow joining us this month as both our Guest Designer and our Premier kit designer!

We had some questions for Kristin, so we sat down and spoke with her and wanted to share it with you.

About You

Q: Tell us a little about your family.

A: I have been married for 12 years and we have two children.

Q: What is something that is really interesting about where you live?

A: I live in a very tiny town in British Columbia, Canada. We are the highest elevated community in British Columbia. Our town is also called the “Wilderness Capital of BC.” We have many different types of wildlife that are always roaming around. Elk, deer, and bears are common sightings here.

Q: What are you reading right now?

A: I’m not currently reading anything, but I’m hoping that with a bit of a break over Christmas I can have some time to read “The Book Thief.”

Q: How do you spend your time? Are you a hobbyist? Do you volunteer? Are you a workout fanatic?

A: This past fall I started taking pottery lessons in my community. It has quickly become an addiction, and I look forward to the class every week. It has been nice finding a new hobby that gets me off of my computer.

Q: If you had one hour of free time, what would you like to do with it?

A: Probably go to do more pottery!

About Your Designing

Q: What inspires you to create? Are you first drawn to color? A theme? A photo? A trend?

A: I am almost always inspired by a theme or idea. Titles are important for me, and I can’t start a kit without a title. I really try hard to find a feel for my kit and then go from there.

Q: What is your workflow like?

A: I first come up with the idea and theme and then a title. After that I decide on a color scheme, and this can be the longest process for me! I then create an inspiration board and start from there! I always do my papers first, take a breather, and then start on the elements.

Q: What is the view from your workspace?

A: I work in a small corner of our living room, so my view is toward the back wall. I don’t like being cooped up in a separate room, so the living room is the best choice.

Q: Do you design in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or another program?

A: I use Photoshop and Illustrator.

About Scrapbooking

Q: Do you still find yourself scrapbooking? Show us your last 3 layouts.

A: I do!

Q: Do you find that you share the photo or the story more?

A: I am much better with photos than the stories. I really wish I could journal better and do better at sharing the stories because that is SO important. I think I need to take a class.

Q: What kinds of kits are you drawn to scrap with?

A: Lately I’ve jumped on board the pocket scrapbooking bandwagon. This way, I find that I get to use a bigger variety of products. It seems to have opened a whole new world of discoveries. I do Project Life hybrid with all of my supplies being digital kits.

Q: What is one great time-saving tip you can give us to help us create a better layout?

A: Don’t worry too much about it being perfect. I don’t spend a lot of time on my layouts because I just don’t have the time, but the time I do put in I make count.

Q: What is your favorite scrapbooking trend?

A: Pocket Scrapbooking

Q: Who are your favorite designers to scrap with?

A: All of the designers at Sweet Shoppe Designs are amazing! I love to scrap with their products. I probably scrap with Zoe Pearn and Jenn Barrette’s products the most.

Thank you for sitting down with us, Kristin!
