Overcoming Scrapbooking Fussiness & Fatigue, TIP #1

3 Easy Tips for Overcoming Scrapbooking Fussiness & Fatigue
TIP #1—Always Start with Inspiration

Just yesterday . . . I spent some time scrapping a page using some favorite photos and a new template.

A little later, I realized that I had already scrapped that set of photos. Now I have two pages I love representing the same event. Sigh.

Don’t feel too bad for me; I’m not out much. I know the secrets to scrapbooking efficiently, and over the next three weeks, I’ll be sharing three of those secrets (a.k.a. TIPS) with you.

TIP #1—Always Start with Inspiration

Don’t start your scrapbook page by staring at a blank document. Start with something that excites you.

As soon as you create a new document, drag something onto it that gets your creative juices flowing.

  • Your starting point could be a photo, but it doesn’t have to be! Many times when I take a particular photo, I already have a page design in mind. I know that the scrapbook page is my end goal and that affects how I take my photos. So often, my photos are my inspiration.

  • Your starting point could be an element. When I buy a new kit, there will always be at least one element that seems to move my mojo into overdrive. So, I start my page with that element and then go from there. Sometimes I don’t even add photos until the page is almost done!

  • Your starting point could be a background paper. I love designers who make creative background papers with focal points. This saves me so much mental energy. When I start with one of these, everything else just seems to fall into place.

See what you can do with TIP #1 this week. I’ll share TIP #2 with you next week.
