Overcoming Scrapbooking Fussiness & Fatigue, TIP #2
Have you ever experienced mental fatigue from scrapbooking? If so, you are not alone.
Many people think completing a page is exhausting, because . . . well, it takes a long time!
But here’s what I think—you are mentally wiping yourself out because you fussed and fussed and forced yourself to make too many decisions. I’m betting you agree.
Mental fatigue often happens long before the page is finished. It starts when you’re comparing twenty papers and zooming in to 400%.
So what’s a girl to do?? Keep reading!
Overcoming Scrapbooking Fussiness & Fatigue
TIP #2—Make Fewer Decisions
One of the fastest ways to wear yourself out when scrapbooking is to give yourself too many choices. Here is what works for me:
- Limit yourself to one kit or collection. I really want to be able to call this “The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Scrapbooking”, but the truth is, it’s the way smart girls scrap in order to avoid mental fatigue. And not only that, but your pages are going to look so much more unified.

- Pick one background paper and commit to it. Fussiness leads to fatigue. There’s no need to compare twenty different background papers before committing. Just pick one that looks nice and move on. Aiming for perfection is a trap!

- Use the first embellishment cluster that feels right instead of auditioning 37 others. I LOVE scrapbook kits that include beautiful clusters. It’s easy to just pick one and go. But most of the time, I have to create my own. Again, there’s no need to be fussy. Keep it simple. As soon as you find something you like, STOP. Don’t keep adding to it. Stop moving things around.

- Remember: done is better than endlessly deciding.
The more decisions you remove from the scrapbooking process, the more energy you’ll have for the fun parts of scrapbooking. Then, you’ll be able to join me in Energizer Bunny Land where 3-4 pages per day is delightfully doable.
