What’s included:
Inspiration & Aesthetic:
A French song from the seventies about two young people and a summer romance that didn’t last inspired me to create Un Bel Été. I have always found that song wonderfully romantic and, above all, nostalgic; for me, it has always been wrapped up with the feeling of summer vacation in France.
I did not want to illustrate the song, or turn this into a literal travel collection. I wanted to catch the mood around it: romantic, sun-faded, gently nostalgic, with painted scenery, worn papers, floral details, ribbons, frames, labels, overlays, word art, and decorative pieces in coral red, soft pink, French blue, weathered ivory, beige, and muted green.
Use Un Bel Été for documenting your summer in France, for travel photos that deserve more than a plain vacation page, for romantic memories, family stories, old albums, art journals, and junk journals. It has enough French summer feeling to guide the page, but it leaves the story open: a road trip, a village afternoon, a faded photo, a first love, a family holiday, or simply a summer you want to remember with a little more tenderness.
