Combining Alphas

I think I’ve mentioned before. . . I will not use what I cannot see. Alphas fall heavily into that category.

Typically alphas come hot off the download in the form of a stuffed folder. Each alpha character has its own file, and they should be appropriately named. If that works for you, then great. But, that doesn’t work for me.

When browsing through my stash, I want to see the alpha right along with the rest of the kit. No extra clicking. No hidden files.

And while I’m on my soapbox, when searching for alphas, I want to see one image representing the entire alpha. Having to scroll through boatloads of the same style just to get to the next image drives me crazy!

Combining Alphas

In this lesson I’ll show you how to gather up your alpha sets and place them into one document for a view that’s less cluttered and easily accessible.

I’ll be using an alpha set from Soaring High by Eva Kipler. You will find the alpha in the Extras folder that came with this class.

Ok, so here’s the difference using this technique made in my organizer. Before, all I could see was a blue folder. That’s not very inspiring to me. And, like I said before, what I cannot see I will not use. Now I can see the entire alpha at a glance, and I have a closeup in case I cannot remember the details of the design.

Not only that, but when I search my organizer for “alpha,” instead of having to scroll through every single character of every single alpha, I am only presented with my lovely alpha PNGs. That really saves me a lot of time and energy.

Use It On A Scrapbook Page

I thought you might be wondering how I use the alpha PNG when scrapbooking. So, here is a quick video.

Assignment

  • Would you benefit from the alpha PNG vs a folder stuffed with individual alpha files? If so, go through your stash and create some alpha PNGs.
  • Take your time. There’s no hurry.
